Biography: Brittany began her career as a young college student where she worked as a research assistant in the University of Georgia’s psychology department. Following her formal education, Brittany began working as a behavioral health provider for the Valdosta Men’s State Prison where she treated adolescent incarcerated males for a variety of mental health disorders. Following this, Brittany spent nearly a decade working as a provider at Advantage Behavioral Health Services in Winder. Here, Brittany maintained a caseload of adolescent clients dealing with anxiety, depression, gender issues, substance abuse, and personality disorders. Brittany also preformed family dependency court evaluations during her time at ABHS. During her time at ABHS, Brittany also served as a clinical supervisor for the Georgia Department of Corrections, where she supervised counselors assisting inmates with their therapy. Lastly before joining Northeast Georgia Counseling in 2016, Brittany worked as an individual and group therapist for the Forsyth County Drug and Accountability Court. Since joining our practice, Brittany provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Experience & Specialties: Brittany has almost 20 years of experience serving the mental health community. For the latter of that experience, Brittany has spent her last 11 years working as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the north Georgia area. During her decade as a licensed counselor, she has assisted clients with a variety of issues including: anxiety, anger management, family issues, grief, mood disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and work/life balance, all of which she continues to work with. But, in recent years Brittany has found significant interest in specializing in helping clients struggling with gender and sexuality issues. Her dedication to her work in the LGBTQ+ community illustrates her commitment to being an ally to those in need of guidance. Brittany is currently working towards her WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) certificate. Currently, Brittany is certified in Relapse Prevention Therapy, Matrix Early Recovery Skills, and Anger Management treatment.

Education: Brittany completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia in 2003, where she graduated Magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. During her time at University of Georgia, Brittany was a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa. Brittany continued on to Valdosta State University, where she earned her Masters of Science in Psychology in 2005, also graduating Magna cum laude.

Hobbies: During her free time, Brittany enjoys reading horror, science-fiction, and fantasy novels. She also enjoys crafting, specifically cross-stiching, drawing, and making cosplays for conventions. When applicable, Brittany enjoys applying her love for art and using art therapy with her clients to achieve the desired outcome. In contrast to her other interests, Brittany is also a roller-coaster enthusiast. As an alumni to the great University of Georgia, Brittany enjoys to continue spending time exploring Athens and all the fun activities is has to offer. As a devoted and loving cat-mom, Brittany often finds herself involved in animal rescue.
