Founder & Owner. MSW, LCSW

Biography: Lisa began her social work career in her early 20’s working for Babies Can’t Wait, a Georgia based program that offers a variety of services to infants and toddlers with special needs. Lisa’s role was to assist and teach families about their unexpected transition to raising a child with special needs. Here, she learned the importance of valuing and respecting her relationships with her clients and their goals. Following this, Lisa spent 12 years working for SummitRidge Hospital, an inpatient facility for adolescent and adult individuals. While working in inpatient treatment, Lisa developed and cultivated strong skills working with individuals and their families during their most difficult times.

Experience & Specialties: Lisa has 30 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Lisa co-owned her first practice, Lanier Counseling Services, for 20 years before founding Northeast Georgia Counseling on her own in 2014. Currently, Lisa specializes in Gottman’s Method Couples Counseling, Depression, Bipolar, and Anxiety Disorder. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy and short-term solution therapy to assist her clients in changing their lives. Lisa has been practicing in the Gwinnett area for the overwhelming majority of her career. She is esteemed by her colleagues in the community, and her former employees; many of whom have proceeded to open their own private practices after the mentorship provided by Lisa at the start of their careers. Given this, Lisa is highly equipped to provide clients with the best care given all of her resources in the community. She utilizes her connections to provide top referrals to physicians, small-groups, treatment facilities, and other aids to the therapeutic process within the community.

Education: Lisa received her Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Georgia in 1988. She went on to receive her Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Georgia’s School of Social Work in 1991.

Hobbies: When she is not running a top-rated business, Lisa enjoys spending time on Lake Lanier with her family. As a life-long water lover, Lisa enjoys ‘showing up’ her daughter with her fun water-sports skills, specifically slalom skiing. She also enjoys exercising and attending daily spin classes, as Lisa emphasizes the importance and benefit of exercise on one’s mental health. Lisa is also a frequent traveler. When she isn’t traveling through North America or abroad with her family, she enjoys relaxing with her nine-year-old black lab, Pepper, and her six-year-old Tabby, Koko. Recently, Lisa has begun to take great pride in mentoring and teaching her daughter the process of owning and operating a small family business. Oh, and Go Dawgs!
