Biography: Laura is a Master’s student doing her Clinical Internship at Northeast Georgia Counseling. Her interest in counseling and mental health stems from her undergraduate education in which she obtained a psychology degree. Her interest was further stimulated by her professional work experience as a college level women’s lacrosse coach. In her eleven years of coaching, Laura interacted with student-athletes who ranged in age from 16-23. She was more than a field figure for the young women she coached; she was a mentor and an amateur counselor. Encountering a gamut of issues involving her student-athletes, Laura was there to help navigate difficult situations and provide a safe space for her players to express themselves. She advocated for her players and ensured that they were staying on top of their academics. Laura learned to use her listening skills and empath personality to connect with people, especially her athletes, and encourage them to address their mental health.
Education: Laura received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology at Ursinus College located outside of Philadelphia, PA. She received a Master’s of Science degree in Healthcare Administration at King’s College in PA. She is currently in her final year of her MSW program at Rutgers University.
Hobbies: Laura enjoys spending time with her partner, Deanna and pups — Taki a lab-husky mix, Kiwi a hound-spaniel mix, and Franki a chihuahua-wiener mix. She gets energized from hiking, outdoor activities, and sunshine. She takes every opportunity to travel and experience new cultures. One of the most memorable trips she had was her study abroad semester in Florence, Italy in 2006. Since then, she has been excited to discover every part of the world and in the future, she hopes to explore all of America with her partner and furry crew in a build-out trailer.
