Soon the school year will end and school-age children will begin their Summer reading. We adults could benefit as well with a carefully selected summer read. This list of 20 books from PsychCentral is a great place to start.
Here are three of my absolute favorites from the list:
- Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. This is the book that made “EQ” or Emotional Intelligence a household word. Goleman not only defines EQ in relation to IQ, but also how anyone can raise their IQ to improve their relationships and career.
- The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck. A great read for those that might see themselves as “spiritual but not religious.” Peck brings spirituality and faith into everyday life. This book also has an extensive section on romantic relationships.
- Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. This book contains the experience and reflections of Holocaust survivor who not only survived but found a way to create something good in the face of ultimate evil. What he leaned became the foundation for a system of therapy known as Logotherapy as well as a major ingredient for Existential Therapy.
