The First Visit
Our office staff are available Mon-Fri 8:30-3 to assist you. However, you may get our voicemail. Please leave a message, and we strive to return calls promptly. You may also email for an appointment. Forms are available to print from the website and bring you. Our staff will assist you with your insurance verifications.
You can expect to be treated with respect, warmth, and confidentiality. The first appointment will focus on WHAT BROUGHT YOU HERE? We will gather information and establish a positive relationship with you as we are sensitive to the significant stress you may be experiencing. We value your perceptions as expert opinions, and we will not minimize or judge you and your family. We take notes for good clinical care as well as to follow up on goals we identify together. Our desire is to provide tools to improve your stressful situation. Often, this can occur in a few sessions, other times it may take additional time.
Our job is to help you identify the problems, counter-productive patterns, and the role you play in your distress. Through a trusting relationship with your therapist, you gain support, education, and tools to change these situations and patterns. We are proactive and focus on strengths and solutions. Therapy is not always easy, as difficult changes may be necessary. We expect you to work hard between sessions for the most benefit. We follow up each appointment discussing what things are better, and how you can repeat those changes!
