Why play therapy matters

Children often experience feelings they can't easily put into words. Our play therapy sessions provide a safe and nurturing space where they can communicate, explore, and process their thoughts and emotions.

Child-Centered Approach

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a non-directive approach that honors your child’s unique voice. CCPT therapists create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment within the playroom, where your child can express themselves however they need. Through play with dolls, blocks, crafts, and many other toys, children can communicate what they think and feel in a supportive space. This process helps them release emotions, build confidence, strengthen decision-making, and develop healthy coping skills.

Navigating Emotional Challenges

Children can experience a wide range of emotional difficulties, from anxiety and depression to trauma and emotional dysregulation. Our play therapy services are designed to meet children where they are, helping them process big feelings in a healthy way. Whether your child is experiencing frequent meltdowns, tantrums, or oppositional behaviors, we focus on supporting emotional regulation, increasing self-esteem, and empowering children with the tools to better understand and manage their emotions.

Supporting Neurodivergent Children

Play therapy can be especially beneficial for children with ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent experiences. We embrace neurodiversity and tailor each session to meet the individual strengths and needs of every child. Our goal is to create a space where children feel accepted, understood, and supported as they grow in confidence and self-awareness.

By engaging in activities such as art therapy, expressive play, role-playing, and sensory experiences, children can reveal their inner world, gain emotional resilience, and build coping strategies

Parental involvement

We believe that meaningful progress happens through collaboration. Our process includes working closely with parents and caregivers through comprehensive assessments and ongoing communication. Together, we develop a personalized treatment plan that supports your child’s emotional growth while strengthening the parent-child relationship.Additionally, our play therapists often collaborate with NEGC’s parenting-support therapists to provide well-rounded care and ensure each family receives the support they need.
